Spare Timing

Endurance event timing · Est. 2012

Chip timing and hosted live results for endurance events.

Road, trail, tri, obstacle, cycling, stage racing. 500+ events over 14 years, across the US and abroad. Run by Jordan Bernath.

What I do

Two services, both done well.

Chip Timing

I run the clock, the mats, and the hardware. Backups at every event so the day is never riding on one box.

  • UHF passive and active transponders — road, trail, tri, cycling, obstacle.
  • Start, split, and finish mats for 5K club races up to marquee marathons.
  • Gun, wave, and chip times reconciled live.
  • On-site crew with redundant readers and power.

Live Results

Athletes see themselves on a page that works during the event and stays online after.

  • Live results, searchable by name or bib — splits, pace, and age-group placing.
  • Shareable athlete pages and finisher certificates.
  • Race-director exports on demand: CSV, PDF, awards lists.
  • Integrations with the registration platforms you already use.

About

Hi, I'm Jordan.

I've been timing endurance events for 14 years — 500 of them and counting, across the US and abroad. I started Spare Timing because I wanted to run the kind of operation I'd want to hire: calm on event morning, backups for everything, live results athletes can actually find themselves on.

I work with race directors across every format I can get to — road marathons, trail ultras, triathlons, obstacle courses, cycling tours, multi-day stage races. If it has a start line and a finish line, I'll bring the clocks.

Most of my work comes from repeat clients. If you're reading this and thinking about an event, the best next step is to tell me about it.
